Position: Parish Administrator
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 10 AM – 3 PM)
Compensation: $2,500 per month (Salaried)

Position Purpose
To support and help carry out the mission and vision of Atonement Lutheran Church through effective management, coordination, communication, and administration of church operations and property.
Job Summary
The Parish Administrator manages front office operations, coordinates facility upkeep, and ensures liturgical and communication materials are professionally produced and maintained. This role involves supervising volunteers, managing communications, supporting outreach, and assisting with program implementation.
Position Overview
A. Office Management & Communication
- Answer phone calls and emails
- Update social media (in coordination with the Pastor)
- Distribute timely, professional weekly communications
- Assemble weekly bulletins and special service materials
- Manage copy machine and order supplies
- Maintain office inventory
- Coordinate and manage office volunteers
- Prepare materials for annual meetings and parochial reports
- Maintain and update membership lists
- Update church website (in coordination with Webfoot Marketing and Design)
- Handle church-wide mailings
B. Facility & Property Coordination
- Collaborate with the Property Committee on building upkeep
- Support tax-exempt documentation (with Treasurer and Financial Secretary)
- Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and repairs
- Manage room rentals and volunteer set-up teams
- Oversee janitorial service
- Manage rental leases and church records
- Distribute and track building access keys
C. Communications & Outreach
- Design and distribute weekly Words of the Week
- Prepare and edit the monthly newsletter
- Manage advertising contracts and seek outreach opportunities
- Oversee signage updates
- Email weekly news and prayer requests
- Coordinate press releases
D. Operations & Administration
- Maintain and update church calendar
- Assist the Finance Committee with budgeting
- Support social ministry efforts (e.g., food cards, aid requests)
- Coordinate payroll and insurance with Paychex and the Treasurer
- Supervise and assist with church events
E. Outreach & Program Support
- Support the Pastor in planning and implementing new programs
- Participate in spiritual discernment efforts
- Provide support to church committees within the position’s scope
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with church management software is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills (independently and in a team setting)
- Experience supervising volunteers
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Adaptability in a dynamic church environment
Accountability
- Reports directly to the Pastor
- Accountable to the Church Council
Weekly Schedule
Monday: Administrative tasks (property, facility upkeep, laundry, social ministry coordination)
Tuesday – Friday: Open office hours; creation of bulletins, newsletters, and other communications
Note: Church doors remain locked outside of services and organized events.
